As latecomers to European culture, Jews gained a unique perspective on the impact of modernity on the human condition. The great 20th century Jewish thinkers -- Martin Buber, Abraham Joshua Heschel, and Joseph Baer Soloveitchik -- each rooted his interpretation of Judaism in an insightful critique of the alienation and soullessness of contemporary life. Their insights resonate today even more than when they were first presented.
